The Ashley Lauren Foundation Appoints Two Monmouth County Locals to Board of Directors

The Ashley Lauren Foundation is pleased to announce the appointments of Tom Arnone and Carolyn Burtnick to its Board of Directors. The Foundation, based out of Spring Lake, and serving all of New Jersey, provides financial assistance and emotional support to children and families suffering from the hardships of pediatric cancer.

Founder and CEO Monica Vermeulen states, “I am excited to welcome Tom Arnone and Carolyn Burtnick to the Board of Directors. Both of them embody the spirit of community, talent, expertise and energy. They truly have a passion for children with cancer and the desire to envision an ambitious future for The Ashley Lauren Foundation in order for us to be able to assist more and more children.”

Tom Arnone has served on the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders since 2010, where he oversees the County’s Department of Public Works and Engineering and serves as the liaison to Public Information and Tourism, Economic Development and the Office of Shared Services. Mr. Arnone also served as a councilmember and mayor in Neptune City. He is currently the vice president of Property Management for PRC Group and serves as vice chairman of the Monmouth Ocean Foundation for Children with Special Needs.

Arnone was part of the 6th annual Butterfly Ball, which was held in late February of this year. He raised funds for the Foundation by participating in its “DANCING FOR OUR STARS” competition, where he prepped for weeks ahead of the Butterfly Ball to showcase his dance moves in front of the sold out crowd at Ocean Place Resort & Spa in Long Branch, NJ.

“I’m truly honored to become part of such a charitable foundation comprised of dedicated and passionate people whose mission is to bring smiles to the faces of children bravely battling pediatric cancer,” Mr. Arnone said.

Carolyn Burtnick, a life-long resident of Monmouth County, has been working in the local publishing business for 20 years, and is the Editor-in-chief of Community Magazine (CM). She attended Saint John Vianney High School in Holmdel, and graduated from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, majoring in marketing. Ms. Burtnick specializes in all media, with a focus on advertising, social media, website creation, and publicity. She has been very active in the Monmouth County community, giving her time to many non-profits, as well as serving on local business boards.

Burtnick has been working with The Ashley Lauren Foundation for over seven years, specifically volunteering with special events, and has been a member of the Butterfly Ball Committee since its inception.

“The Ashley Lauren Foundation has a special place in my heart. The work they do for families and children in the state of New Jersey is amazing and humbling. I look forward to becoming an integral part of this great organization,” noted Ms. Burtnick.
