ALF Featured in Investors Bank Commercial

The Ashley Lauren Foundation (ALF) was honored to, once again, be part of Investors Bank marketing. The Foundation was part of an Investors Bank commercial highlighting the many ways Investors Bank helps The Ashley Lauren Foundation with its mission. The commercial was shown on CBS TV during The Jane Pauley Show on Sunday mornings. Adopt a Child’s Wish for the Holidays

The holiday season is very meaningful to The Ashley Lauren Foundation. Our ALF Family Holiday Party is one of many programs offered to the children and their families. It is a beautiful, fun-filled day for the children and their families to forget about their cancer and enjoy the holiday season.

Hope Campaign to Benefit New Jersey Children with Cancer

The Ashley Lauren Foundation is seeking participants to help reach its goal

 Going on now through November 19, 2017, The Ashley Lauren Foundation is holding its Inaugural Hope Campaign, all proceeds will benefit the Foundation’s mission of bringing “Hope & Help for Children with Cancer in NJ.” To participate in this effort, simply become a fundraiser or donor by texting DANCE to 71777 or visit https://app.mobilecause.com/vf/Dance and follow the simple steps. At the conclusion of the campaign on Sunday, November 19th from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., The Ashley Lauren Foundation will be culminating its 2017 Hope Campaign with its “Dance for Hope” Dance Marathon. The event will take place in the OceanFirst Bank Center at Monmouth University, located at 400 Cedar Avenue in West Long Branch.

Monica Vermeulen, Founder/CEO of The Ashley Lauren Foundation stated that, “We are so excited to be hosting our Inaugural Hope Campaign and “Dance for Hope” Dance Marathon at Monmouth University.  The “Dance for Hope” Dance Marathon will be the celebratory conclusion of the Foundation’s Hope Campaign, which is going on now through November 19th. Our goal is to reach $75,000, so please become a fundraiser today.”

The Dance Marathon is open to the public. The entry fee is $50 which can be obtained by fundraising. The Ashley Lauren Foundation is seeking participants that are willing to be fundraisers, donors or put a fundraising team together to help reach the Hope Campaign’s goal.  You do not have to participate in the dance marathon to become a fundraiser for this campaign.  The goal of The Ashley Lauren Foundation is to ease the journey when pediatric cancer is diagnosed by providing direct financial assistance (household bills, medications not paid through medical insurance, traveling expenses to and from hospitals, funeral expenses, etc.); material assistance (food, clothing, household items); emotional support (for the entire family); four major seasonal parties for the children and their families (Spring Party at the Boardwalk, Summerfest, Harvest Party, Holiday Party); advocacy; “Making Dreams Come True” Program; Birthday Brigade (gifts, cake, balloons delivered personally to each child); special outings; hospital parties; holiday gifts for the children and anything else that is needed to make their lives easier and bring smiles to their faces.

Monica Vermeulen chosen as Greater Spring Lake Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year

The Board of Trustees of The Ashley Lauren Foundation is proud to announce that our Founder/CEO, Monica Vermeulen, has been chosen as the 2017 Greater Spring Lake Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year because of her tireless efforts in helping children suffering from cancer. In addition, the Greater Spring Lake Chamber of Commerce will be sharing the proceeds of this year’s Citizen of the Year Dinner with The Ashley Lauren Foundation.

We hope to see you at the event which will be held at the beautiful Essex & Sussex in Spring Lake. This is a great opportunity to be able to see the inside of this incredible, historical building along with being part of making a difference in the lives of the children we assist.

The beauty of the historical Essex & Sussex in Spring Lake dates back to 1914. The exquisite building enriched with history is closed to the public. This is a rare opportunity to see the grand building. A private tour of the Essex & Sussex will be given directly after the event.

“You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” Musical to Benefit Kids with Cancer

Fifty years ago, in 1967, the musical You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown opened off Broadway. Now it is coming to Greenbriar II in Brick as a fundraiser for The Ashley Lauren Foundation, a Spring Lake non-profit that provides Hope and Help for Children with Cancer in New Jersey through financial, material and emotional support along with many programs for the children.

This multi-generational production is being directed by Monica Vermeulen (Brick) who is also the Founder/CEO of The Ashley Lauren Foundation. Musical Direction is by Norman “Doc” Hart (Brick). Reuniting after playing opposite each other in the same roles thirty years ago are Windber R. Brandt (Toms River) as Charlie Brown and Renee S. Tompkins (Wall Township) as Lucy Van Pelt. Rounding out the cast is Corey Crawford (Beachwood), as Linus, Maria D’Amato (Long Branch) as Sally Brown; Windber’s son, Windber R. Brandt (Ocean Gate), as Schroeder; and Madison Starr Wicker (Brick) as Snoopy.

There will be two performances at Greenbriar II Clubhouse, located at 1 Greenbriar Boulevard, Brick, NJ 08724 on Saturday, October 14 at 7:00 PM and Sunday, October 15 at 3:00 PM. Inaugural Run for Hope to Benefit The Ashley Lauren Foundation

Mark your calendars for the ultimate Sunday Funday, all while showing your support for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Brielle Ale House is hosting its inaugural Run for Hope 5K & Fun Run to benefit The Ashley Lauren Foundation, a nonprofit based out of Spring Lake and serving all of New Jersey, which provides financial assistance, emotional support and many other programs to children and families suffering from the hardships of pediatric cancer, on Sunday, September 24, 2017.

All proceeds from this event will go to The Ashley Lauren Foundation. Participants will receive a t-shirt, a closed scenic course throughout Brielle, and access to an after party with their registration. After the race, there will be a ton of free family fun for participants at Brielle Ale House that includes face painting and bounce houses, a barbecue, drink tickets, a push-up/plank challenge, music, gift basket raffles, 50/50 and so much more!

Registration is from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Brielle Ale House, located at 601 Union Lane in Brielle; the 5K starts at 10:30 a.m. and the 1-Mile Walk/Fun Run (one-mile) at 10:45 a.m. (strollers welcome). The after party begins at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $35 per person, $20 for 12 and under, and kids 4 and under are FREE. Online registration ends September 21st, you must register by September 7th to be guaranteed a t-shirt.

The Ashley Lauren Foundation Appoints Serena DiMaso to Board of Directors

The Ashley Lauren Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Serena DiMaso to its Board of Directors.

The Foundation, based out of Spring Lake, and serving all of New Jersey, provides financial assistance, emotional support and many other programs to children and families suffering from the hardships of pediatric cancer.

Founder and CEO Monica Vermeulen states, “We are honored to have Serena DiMaso join our Board. Serena brings a tremendous amount of experience which will help to further our mission of helping children with cancer.”

DiMaso is currently serving her third elected term on the Board of Chosen Freeholders. She is   liaison to the Office of Emergency Management, Workforce Development, Superintendent of Schools, Tourism, Division of Reclamation, Division of Weights & Measures, Improvement Authority and the Shade Tree Commission. DiMaso serves as the Freeholder representative on the County’s Planning Board and the Mosquito Control Advisory Board. DiMaso served on the Holmdel Township Committee for ten years, including five years as Mayor. She serves on the Meridian Hospital’s Corporation Board of Trustees, is Chairwoman of the Bayshore Hospital Foundation and is an active member of the Holmdel First Aid Squad. Serena is also a Board member of the National Foundation for Women Legislators.

Serena participated in The Ashley Lauren Foundation’s Butterfly Ball competition “Dancing For Our Stars” in February 2017. She states, “What a fun way to help raise the money needed to carry out the important work of the Foundation.”

“The Ashley Lauren Foundation does so much for children battling cancer and their families,” says DiMaso. “It is my privilege to join this great group and do what I can to advance their mission of bringing hope and help for children with cancer.”

Performance of HAIRSPRAY to Benefit The Ashley Lauren Foundation

The Ashley Lauren Foundation Theatre Ensemble, the theatrical arm of The Ashley Lauren Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing hope and help to children throughout New Jersey who suffer from cancer through financial, material and emotional support, will present the musical, HAIRSPRAY, on July 14, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.; July 15, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.; and July 16, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at The Strand Theatre, located at 400 Clifton Avenue in Lakewood, NJ.

The 1950’s are out and change is in the air! HAIRSPRAY, winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, is a family-friendly musical, piled bouffant-high with laughter, romance and deliriously tuneful songs. It’s 1962 in Baltimore and the lovable plus-size teen, Tracy Turnblad has only one desire – to dance on the popular “Corny Collins show.” When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob, Link Larkin, and integrate a TV network… all without denting her ‘do! You will truly enjoy a wonderful family show while helping children that are suffering from cancer.
